CGRH Streamer Tools: A Collaborative Guide
This helpful document is a collection of advice, tools, tips, and comedic relief for streamers of all skill and involvement levels!
Nightbot
This automated moderation tool allows streamers to set custom commands to use in their Twitch chat. You can create custom commands that will display messages within chat – for instance, a !welcome command to display a welcome message for new viewers. Nightbot will also moderate your channel if you so desire — it can watch for specific phrases to ban and timeout.
Pixel Chat
For accessibility purposes, the CGRH recommends using a tool for closed captioning for your streams. Pixel Chat is an easy-to-use bot that will append automatic captions to your overlay so that they will be visible in your recordings for YouTube uploads and Twitch VODs. It’s not perfect, but it does its best, and helps make your stream more accessible!
Sound Alerts
Sound Alerts are a way to play a brief audio clip as a viewer reward. The website allows you to select from a library of sounds, and select a cost of channel points or Bits. Commonly used alerts include jump scares, memes, song clips, and toilet humor, but they make for funny content, and incentivize your community to interact with you.
